The Property Department is an integral part of Medine Ltd, a diversified group with a long-standing heritage. Founded in 1911 as a sugar estate, Medine has evolved through visionary leadership and a pioneering spirit, earning its place among Mauritius’ top 75 economic players and listing on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius.

 

Created in 2007, the Property Department manages Medine Ltd’s 10,000-hectare land bank and drives its long-term vision. As the strategic arm of the organisation, it oversees the planning and development of these assets, guided by the principles of Medine’s 2005 masterplan and a strong commitment to sustainable, future-oriented growth.

2007

A New Chapter Begins for Medine

2007 marks a pivotal year as Medine is entrusted with the stewardship of its extensive land bank. This moment lays the groundwork for transformative developments, setting the stage for a long-term vision that would redefine the western region through bold planning and sustainable growth.

2008

Medine Goes Public

Medine takes a major step in its corporate journey by being listed on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius. This milestone marks a new era of transparency, investor confidence, and expansion, establishing the foundation for the group’s future ventures in real estate and smart city development.

2011

Cascavelle Shopping Mall Opens

The launch of Cascavelle Shopping Mall brings a modern retail and lifestyle destination to the West. With a blend of shopping, dining, and entertainment, it becomes a cornerstone of community life and a catalyst for the region’s economic activity.

2012

Uniciti Education Hub Takes Off

Medine expands its vision with the launch of the Uniciti International Education Hub, attracting global institutions like Middlesex University. This initiative redefines education in the West, providing world-class academic and training facilities within an integrated environment.

2015

Student Residences Set New Standards

As part of the Uniciti Education Village, Medine delivers its first phase of student residences, located conveniently near Cascavelle Mall. These modern accommodations enhance the student experience and further anchor the area as a hub for international education.

2017

Smart City Vision Unveiled

On 7th September 2017, Medine officially launches its visionary Smart City project. Designed as a holistic live-work-play ecosystem, the masterplan begins to take shape, aligning urban growth with sustainability and quality of life in the West.

2018

SPARC Redefines Sports & Wellness

SPARC Mauritius opens its doors, becoming the West’s premiere destination for sports, health, and wellness. With state-of-the-art facilities, positioning Medine as a leader in promoting active lifestyles and community engagement.

2019

Greening the Future: Magenta Park Begins

Construction begins on the first phase of Magenta Park and Promenade. Spanning 15 hectares, this green lung of Uniciti is envisioned as a recreational sanctuary, offering thousands of trees, walking paths, and a deep commitment to environmental sustainability.

2021

Launching of The Grove Vetiver

Medine launches the first phase of The Grove, its inaugural VEFA residential project within Medine Smart City. Blending contemporary living with natural surroundings and urban convenience, The Grove marks a key milestone in the development of Medine Smart City.

Launching of Magenta Parkside

Magenta Parkside is made up of four thoughtfully designed residential areas, offering 470 plots ranging from 500 to 3,980 m². It embodies the promise of a high-quality lifestyle, a signature of Medine Group’s residential vision in the island’s western region.

2022

Building the Future: Construction Underway

Construction officially begins on Phase 1 of The Grove. With strong demand and rapid progress, this development reflects the growing interest in high-quality, integrated urban living in the West.

2023

Start of Construction of the Pierrefonds–Cascavelle Section of the Flic-en-Flac Bypass

This project represents a major step forward in improving connectivity between the West, Centre, and East of the island,ultimately linking Flic-en-Flac to the airport. Rs 1.4 billion has been allocated for the development of the Flic-en-Flac Bypass,including the provision of 207 arpents of land and an additional 44-arpent road link between Cascavelle and Flic-en-Flac.

Launching of Pierrefonds

Medine launches the 90-hectare Pierrefonds morcellement, which includes residential, commercial, and green spaces. A gated community spanning approximately 38 hectares in a prime location is a key feature of the development.

Launching of The Grove Frangipanier

As part of Medine’s flagship residential development within Medine Smart City, this new phase offers 70 additional units, including 66 modern apartments and 4 exclusive penthouses, further enriching a vibrant, growing community in the West.

2024

Strong Demand for The Grove

Phases 1 and 2 of The Grove are fully sold out. While construction of Phase 1 is nearing completion, groundwork for Phase 2 began in July. The upcoming launch of Phase 3 in November reflects the strong interest from those eager to join Medine Smart City dynamic and growing community.

2025

Launching of Magenta Westside

Medine launches the second phase of the Magenta project, featuring 124 residential plots for development. Located in a prime location with lush surroundings, the development benefits from top-quality infrastructure designed to enhance residents’ quality of life.

Expansion of Cascavelle Shopping Mall

This expansion will consolidate Cascavelle Shopping Mall’s position as a must-see shopping destination. Scheduled for delivery in November, this project is part of a broader initiative aimed at strengthening the attractiveness of the territorial brand “The West”, supported by the Medine Group.

2026

Upcoming Launch of Artemis Cascavelle Hospital

Medine, in partnership with SAF Healthcare, announces the upcoming launch of Artemis Cascavelle Hospital, a state-of-the-art, 110-bed multispecialty facility offering comprehensive tertiary care. Delivered by top-tier medical professionals, it will be the first private tertiary care hospital in the Black River district.
